My 2005 RG with 103" SE motor....74,000 miles before it gave up the ghost in Wyoming on August 5th....

Just heard from my mechanic.....a bit over $4,000. Seems the pressed on flywheel rotated on the shaft and wore a hole in my cam cover...and ovaled the shaft....and the metal ate the oil pump....and the movement caused the barrels some wear which means bore out and then new pistons/rings....needs a new rotating assembly....I've got a 790 pound paperweight....

New 103" motor is $4,595 plus labor to install. Doesn't include intake, stator, etc. Have that off the old motor..but still $1,000 in labor to remove/install. And, it's a low performance motor. My motor has a bunch of go-fast internal parts. Those alone cost me $4,000 when I got the motor pumped up...so, the price isn't a bargain, but I've been riding it for 7 years and hopefully I can get seven more.

Bike's ridden to Daytona twice, Sturgis seven times, Canada once, Palm Springs once, Ely 4 times, Phoenix five times, L.A. twice, Boise twice, Redwood Run three times, Oregon once, And all kinds of local rides and stuff. Each one of the referenced rides was a 'stand alone' ride. Guess my butt fits that Corbin seat! LOL

When in Rock Springs getting the U-Haul to bring the bikes back I visited the HD store. They have a Sunset Red Screaming Eagle Road Glide Ultra on the floor for $24,000 OTD. Loring said, "let's just trade the RG in on that? It's what you really want?". I wanted to...but in this economy, and needing a job, I just don't want to take on a bike payment again. Oh, well...guess this will be my last bike....

2005. The 103" was a 'new' engine then.

Somebody in the dealership is pulling your chain.

Harley didn't make a CVO Road Glide in 2005.

O.K...I just called the store in Rock Springs. The bike is sold and it sold for $24,000. The problem is with me....sort of. The bike had SE air cleaner and SE pipes and 110 motor...but it wasn't a CVO. The dealership just put those on it for dress up purposes. So, you're right Copper, it was way too cheap for a CVO.
